Girls and women constitute nearly half of the population of India, in fact almost all over the globe. Yet, they are deprived of access to resources, opportunities in comparison to their male counterparts and become victims of violence due to their gender. CSD works on addressing gender inequality by advocating increased representation, participation and leadership of women in decision-making forums in communities. To achieve this goal, CSD, in collaboration with a network of civil society organisations, activists and like-minded institutions, advocates a comprehensive review of policies and examines recent demographic, social, and economic trends with empirical and conceptual rigour. Such research and information inputs requires governments to adopt a policy framework that guarantees women an equitable life, with access to decent and safe employment.
